With an uprising in the industry of communities trying to find safe spaces to play, create and grow, foundation.fm’s mission is to showcase the hottest emerging talent in the underground music scene led by a diverse group of women, LGTBQI+ person’s and talented creatives who support our values – with women at the forefront.
Founded by three remarkable females; Becky Richardson (Co-Founder of National Radio promotions company Ghost Promo, Artist Manager at UROK Management) Ami Bennett (Executive Producer at Somethin’ Else, leading on R1, 1Xtra and Asian Network) and Frankie Wells (Former Exec Producer at Radar Radio & Team Assistant at Capital Xtra & BBC Radio 1Xtra), Foundation FM will be based in London and will be live on air from 10am to 10pm, every day.
Being connected to the UK underground culture; nightlife, labels, personalities and collectives, foundation.fm will provide a platform that enhances the scene and nurtures talent with one big difference, an inclusive focus. Foundation FM will be a celebration of all genders and communities and what those people can achieve when given support and opportunity in the music industry.

In addition, their schedule has been developed with the audience in mind. They’re changing up the traditional idea of what radio is, to better their audience and their routines. Their Brunch show is a take on the regular radio breakfast show, only a bit later in the day from 10am-1pm, allowing for greater accessibility for those who don’t work a standard 9-5; you won’t have to get up at 6am to hear the good bits or the biggest guests! Similarly, their Happy Hour show, which will be from 5pm-7pm, takes into consideration that perhaps many of our audience won’t be actually driving home at that time. The idea is that the ‘Happy Hour’ may simply reflect the mindset of listeners for that time of day; happy to be done at work or school, happy hours to chill after a long day, or even literal ‘Happy Hours’ for a couple of early drinks.
Both Brunch and Happy Hour will have their own presenters; on the Brunch show there will be Kamilla (Boiler Room & BBC Radio 1Xtra producer) and Ellie Prohan (Full-time DJ & Host, ex-drive time presenter on The Beat FM) will be conducting the Happy Hour show – two of the many presenters foundation.fm are looking forward to developing as key personalities of the foundation.fm brand.
foundation.fm’s chat, specialist and mix shows will have a rotation of presenters and DJ’s, allowing the station to keep spots open for established, big names, as well as the opportunity to scout and develop new and emerging talent, while growing the foundation.fm family and sound.
